Since We've Been Back

We finally got home on Sunday about 5pm.

Since then, we had a bee fiasco.  I had to actually evacuate the kids.  Mark and his brother were able to handle the situation.

Next afternoon, Brecken and I were in a car accident.

Next morning, Brecken woke up sick.  I think it was all the hotel germs.

Today, I'm sick.

I think I'd like to go back to Colorado.

Unplugged

Unplugged is a fairly knew word people throw around as a verb.  Such as: I spent the weekend unplugged.  I don't get it.  I don't want to unplug.  When I have stuff to do I'm not plugged - if you will - so I don't really see a need nor do I want to be unplugged.  However, I was unplugged (mostly) through our road tripping family vacation.  Until now.  Yes, I loved nights sitting in Golden, CO high up on Look Out Mountain watching the twinkling lights of Denver below us.  It is so beautiful there is makes me get choked up.  I absolutely love it.  However, as I explained to Victoria (who had a hard time saying good-bye to our CO family again this year) we love it sooo much and appreciate all it has to offer each and every day because we're not used to it.  It's new and amazing and spectacular all four days we are there to enjoy it.  The first time we saw an elk we were all squealing in delight.  The last time....we were still squealing even though we had seen more than 100 in the few days.

Back to being unplugged.  There was cell service (for the most part) in each place we stayed from Lincoln, NE to Aunt Joan's in Golden to Rapid City, SD to Sioux City ND.  However, I chose to only use the internet in the car to google whatever we were questioning during conversations or info we needed to know or to check Facebook (over and over and over and over).

I enjoyed the nights of chatting rather than watching TV.  The evenings and days filled with family and experiences rather than internet and Bravo.

Even though I'm plugged back in, I hope to remember that unplugging is good for me and my family.

Five Years and Five Guys

Five years ago today I met the New Kids on the Block for the first time in my life.  I'm thrilled to say I've had several close encounters since.  One just a couple weeks ago I've yet to post.

Five years ago they came back into my life and have kept me entertained ever since.

A Year Ago and a Little Bun

One year ago today I peed on a stick and learned I had a bun in my oven.

So much has changed in that year.  I spent the whole last year saying and thinking, "Next year at this time the baby......"

Well, here we are.  One year later and our sweet Baby Brecky is four and a half months old and is turning out to be the best baby ever!  I couldn't ask for anything more.  Our days are filled with all four of us oohing and aaahhhing over how lucky we are to have the cutest and sweetest and smartest....the list goes on... baby in the world.

He has expanded our family of four to a fabulous family of five that's even tighter than we were before.

He is the love of each of our lives.  I wish I knew then what I knew now.

Everything would work out perfectly, perfect!

Safety Zone

**Even though I found this blog in my draft box and it's so out of date (thinking end of Nov.) it's still worthy of publishing.  Looking back at that time, it warms my heart!**

Today marks the second trimester.  Also known as the Safety Zone.  (Knock on wood.)
Some people actually wait this long to tell people they're pregnant.  I haven't actually met someone who waits that long, but I read they're out there.  The very beginning is nerve racking because so much has to go right for this little baby to be properly created.

Dried Up Falls

Last fall, we took the kids to our favorite spot Minnehaha Falls. 

It was totally dried up.

It's fun to see it overflowing, dried up, frozen and just flowing.

Most of the time it's flowing so it was really interesting to see what's actually at the bottom of it! 

They explored and got their feet a bit wet.

Life's a Beach

Not sure if I ever posted this.  I just found this in my draft box.  How time flies!

We spent the other day at the beach. We had another great time. Victoria loves the freedom her water wings provide. I have to insist on Christian getting in the water because he'll just dig in the sand for hours and his little cheeks are red.
