Happy Mother's Day

I distinctly remember shoving my Cabbage Patch doll up my shirt as I stood in front of the full length mirror at my grandma’s house on Ruth St. as a little girl, dreaming about being a mommy.  I’ve been a mom for over six years now.  It is the most exhausting, wonderful, amazing, emotional, scary, beautiful thing I’ve ever done.  It doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, the kids will get up before the sun rises.  It doesn’t matter if we’re on vacation in Mexico and hundreds of miles apart, a piece of each their hearts are in mine and mine in theirs. Motherhood is a truly all-encompassing feeling and being.  If you’re not a mom you really can’t understand the gravity of it.
That’s why I love baby showers. I stare at the woman with the growing belly smiling with tears in my eyes knowing; soon she’ll be forever changed.  She will become a mommy.
Each year at Mother’s Day I feel such an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my children. Some days I hear the word MOM so much I may huff and say, “WHAT?!” with little patience. But most days it’s one of my favorite words because I am truly blessed to be a mommy.
Mother’s Day makes me think of all the moms I know that have guided me to be the mother I am.  I love being a mommy!

Happy Mother's Day!
