I opened my email at school this morning and was thrilled to read:
"Congratulations! You have been selected as a Teacher of the Year finalist!"
Tears were in my eyes immediately! My hands were shaking as I quickly dialed Mark.
I couldn't be more ecstatic!
I look forward to the interview on the 24th of April. So many things have changed since was a finalist in 2007. I have so much more confidence than I did then.
Even though my chances of winning are slim, it is truly an honor to be a finalist!
I can't wait to hear the speech my former student and my current student (sisters) use to introduce me!

During spring break the kids and I spent a few hours at Mall of America.
One thing out there that we had never done was the Mirror Maze.
We've talked about going for a few months now.
After getting our plastic gloves we headed in.
We smacked into walls.
We walked in circles so many times I was actually dizzy.
After 45 minutes we tried to quit.
We couldn't figure out how in the world to get to the end so we went back out the entrance.
The man didn't want us to leave disappointed so he had us go in the exit and go backwards, since we had made it about 3/4 the way through.
The problem was only the half way point looked any different than anything else and it was impossible to tell if we were going in the right direction or not.
Finally, we made our way through.
All three of us were walking with our hand out for a few minutes after that.
We laughed about being dizzy.
We laughed about when I couldn't figure out which
Victoria was real versus the four reflections I could see.
It was a once in a lifetime activity.
Been there. Done that.
