It's Summer Vacation

Day 1 of Summer Vacation

It's 8am on Saturday morning.  We were all up by 8am and we signed Christian up for his first team - tball with his buddy Tyler.  As soon as he was officially he asked if I had a video explaining how to do it.  How watched several youtube videos and now we need to buy the necessary equipment.

Victoria is currently in a debate with herself trying to decide between tball and soccer.

It's going to be a fabulous summer and exciting summer!

Good Bye and Hello

Victoria,
Today was your last day of kindergarten.

My throat tightens as I type those words.  I too, have become that mom who wants her kids to stop growing and stay just as you are.  I never understood those moms until I became one.  It's not that I don't want to see you grow and change and mature it's just that -

I've never loved you more than I love you right now.

I may have written that before, I certainly said that before and I probably think that every single day since you've been born... but I REALLY think it today.

Kindergarten was not what I expected.  However, you thrived and made us so proud.  Your creativity soared!!  I'm so excited for you to be entering 1st grade.

It's been so fun teaching in the building you're learning in. I've peeked at you more than you'll ever know.  I've loved getting to know your friends through my monthly lessons. I've loved hearing your stories of how other kids misbehaved and you continued to control yourself.  I've loved to see your art.  I've loved to see your math.  - Even though you actually do second grade math on the side  - don't worry I won't tell anybody!

I've loved to see your reading improve dramatically.   I love to watch you write out birthday cards and thank you notes all by yourself.

You are an independent, beautiful, kind and caring little girl.

I look forward to spending this summer soaking up your love, creativity and personality.... because you're growing so fast.

Good bye kindergarten....  Hello First Grade....We're All Ready for You!

LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

My eyes are swollen from crying over my current and past students all day long!

Glad at the Grad

You have no idea how often people tell me Victoria looks likes me.  I take it as a compliment and then I say you should see her dad.  See what I mean:

So glad Daddy made it just in time for graduation!

Tough Ones Too

No matter how a year goes it's amazing how emotional the end of the year is.  If you would have asked me in September, December or last week if I would cry on the last day I would have said, "I think I'll be all smiles!"

But today I had a guest teacher and I barged in at 3:30 and asked her permission to take over and gave them some directions, had them line back up...but then during our usual in line good byes I ended up hugging and kissing each one on the top of the head.

It's strange how the tough ones are the hardest to say good bye to.

Is Your Sidewalk for Sale?

I stopped by my favorite store, Hallmark, with the kids after school.  We were holding hands as we were walking through the parking lot.  I said, "Ooooh, look!  They're having a sidewalk sale," all giddy in my  shopping voice.  We were walking slowly past the tables filled with ornaments, photo albums, and many other fun things such as magnets and stationary when Christian asked, "So where's the cement?"

I guess he's never heard the phrase Sidewalk Sale.
