A Visit from the Union

This afternoon I had finished a lesson and they kids were working and many needed help from me.  I was sitting at my desk and about five kids were in line waiting for my help.  In walks a man that looked familiar.  "Kelly?" he asked.  Then he identified himself as one of the head honchos from our union.  He had a YOU ROCK  balloon and certificate in his hand.  I was temporarily speechless.  We shook hands and I finally stammered, "Wow, this is so nice of you!"  He announced to my class, "Your teacher is a Teacher of the Year finalist for White Bear Lake."  The kids began cheering.  Again, I was speechless.  It was so kind.  I beamed the rest of the day.
